How to Make an Impact in Blackberry Application Development - Think Like a User

I Love Windows, But I Have an iPhone

There, I said it, and I feel better now.

I am a Windows guy. I always have been. I have tried to get in on the Mac craze, but every time I use a Mac I just find myself missing the features and navigation of Windows. Heck, I will even participate in the fanboy Windows/Mac flame wars out there on the behalf of Microsoft.

But when it comes to the world of mobile phones, Apple is king. After trying many different Windows Mobile phones and always ending up frustrated with the crashes, clunky interface, and all-around unresponsiveness, I bought an iPhone. I'm sorry Bill, I sold out.

Owning an iPhone however, has been a dream. Don't get me wrong, it still frustrates me how Apple's closed platform cuts me off from doing simple things like copying an mp3 file to my phone and playing it back, but it's worth it. The phone is snappy, responding almost to my thoughts before I can even translate them to a movement in my finger. The screen is beautiful, and the OS truly feels like it was designed for a mobile device, rather than designed to try and put a computer on a phone like Windows Mobile does. And I'll admit it, I love app shopping. I download apps all the time. Free apps, paid apps, any kind of app I think I can have fun with, and boy are there a lot of them.

My only major gripe with the phone is being forced to use iTunes, since I've never bothered to keep up with my id3 tagging and, even worse, since getting a new computer I can now not transfer any new content to my phone without deleting everything already on there, meaning I'll have to completely rebuild my library on my new computer first.

But, that's a small price to pay given that I spend hours on this thing when I'm out and about. I'll never again be bored in a doctor's office, or on the bus, or anywhere that I have my phone with me.

When I'm not playing with my iPhone I'm trying to warn people of how overpriced bottled water is. If you want to find cheap bottled water and save some money on something that you probably have readily available to you anyway, be sure to check out http://www.cheapbottledwater.us/.

Apple iPad Review - You Could Get a Free iPad

The Apple iPad has been out for a few months now and it's really starting to gain some popularity. At first it was thought of as just a new tech gadget that people would let collect dust after the novelty wore off. But the iPad is showing that may not be the case. Every week that passes brings out new app with a new way to utilize the iPad. The following is a quick iPad review and I'll also show you how you could get a free iPad.

One of the things that makes the iPad so interesting is that it's almost like a laptop computer. But it kind of is a cross between a Macbook and an iPhone because of the apps. There's no keyboard and there's no phone capabilities but those are the only two things that make this different from an iPhone or a Macbook. It's thin, portable, light weight and it has WiFi built in. You could bluetooth a keyboard to it if you wanted, and you could also get a Skype app for it as well. So it really has no limits and is a lot more like a Macbook and an iPhone than most people think.

Probably the most attractive thing to users is all the apps that are available. There are literally thousand upon thousand of apps available for the iPad. You can get any app that's available for the iPhone and there are a few more that are exclusive to the iPad itself. For instance, there is a new app available called MaxiVista. This is a great app because it blurs the lines of compatibility between Macs and PCs. If you have a PC and you run windows this app is compatible. What it does is it allows the user to set it up as a second computer monitor on a PC. This is great for musicians, people who work with spreadsheets or people that trade stocks online for example. The iPad is really starting to show it's potential.

Even though the iPad has only been out for a few months there's already talk of the second generation iPad. This really isn't a surprise considering that when the iPhone 3GS first came out there was talks beginning of the next iPhone right away. What is interesting is the fact that the second generation iPad could be out as early as the end of this year. There's rumors that it will be available with smaller OLED screens, which would allow it compete more with the likes of digital readers like the Amazon Kindle (even though it seems to really have dug into the Kindles market already).

The potential for the iPad is really quite amazing and I think more and more people are becoming aware of this. With all the cool apps coming out for it it really becoming quite the cool, must-have tech gadget. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Apple iPad, especially since so much has been made of it in such little time. If you want the chance to get your hands on an iPad for free here's your opportunity. Click here for your chance to get a free iPad.

iPad 3G Sim Cards - What Are the Options?

The Apple iPad has now started shipping across the UK. The sales of this new and innovative gadget has been massive and it is proving to be one of the best selling Apple products of all time. As you may or may not know, the Apple iPad come in two versions, a 3G + WiFi enabled and a WiFi enabled. Being WiFi enabled, means that you have to be in a WiFi network in order to be able to access the internet. However, when you go out of WiFi range, you will need another method of connection - this is where 3G comes in, but you need a SIM card for this.

This is where you will need a SIM Only deal for your iPad. Take note that the special SIM Only boasts are only for the Apple iPad but not for various other Apple gadgets such as the iPod, iPhone or any other Apple machines.

There are at present in the United Kingdom have been made available on 4 main mobile networks. These include Vodafone, Orange, Three Mobile and O2. All of the networks have different ways of putting together their SIM plans and they can vary in price, data transfer limits and durations of the contracts. You can get your iPad card, on a 1 month (this is the maximum), 1 week or even 1 day. The great thing about the iPad, is that it know when you are in WiFi range. So, when the free internet access is available, it will automatically switch to this connection. As a result, you will not be eating into your data allowance.

What you decide to go for really depends upon your estimated usage amount. In the event that you find oneself using the iPad each day for pretty much everything from exploring the net to watching clips on YouTube, chatting with friends, to checking your emails, you will want a 5GB or 10GB iPad SIM Only contract to keep these needs. Should you will only use the iPad to check on e-mail and only browse the net for about 1 hour a day, the cheap 1GB more your thing. If, you are unsure how often you are likely to use it for, you might want to consider going for one of the 1 day access SIM only cards.

These iPad 3G SIM cards work in a very similar way to mobile phone SIM only cards, in terms of their contract lengths. With iPad 3G data plans you are not tied down to any long term contract and the longest period of time you plan can last is 1 month. Of course, if you like the service, you can re-new this easily, but if you are unhappy, juts ring up and cancel and find a deal on a alternative network. This is a pretty good way of doing things, as you have more freedom of both choice and on your spending.

Checkout all the latest iPad 3G Deals that are available online on the various UK networks. Additionally, you might also want to take a look at our Sim Only Contracts for mobile phones.

If you're looking to save a couple hundred bucks or more on a laptop then refurbished laptops for sale is just the thing you were looking for. Here in this article we will discuss some of the pros and cons of buying refurbished units as well as the best places for you to go to find the highest quality units at the lowest prices.

Pros

1.Some companies that refurbish laptops will give you the same warranty that they give their new units. Apple is a good example of this. Refurbished apple laptops for sale get a one year warranty just like their new laptops do.

2.The units have been swept clean and have had any unwanted or unneeded software removed. They are also completely free of any spyware, adware, or viruses.

3.Refurbished laptops are usually much less-expensive than newer models (sometimes as much as several hundred dollars).

4.Some companies will put a new casing on the laptop making it look just like new!

Cons

1.Laptops that have been refurbished sometimes have a much shorter lifespan than do new units.

2.Some of the refurbished units have undergone major repairs so depending on the level of expertise of the person fixing it, the laptop may not be completely repaired. This is usually not the case for larger manufacturer like Dell and Apple. But that's not to say it doesn't happen.

3.Some refurbished laptops for sale come with no warranty. Check with the supplier before you buy.

Where To Buy?

There are many sites that specialize in selling these types of laptops. Your best bet for a working unit that comes with a decent warranty is to purchase one from a manufacturer's website. The companies that sell their laptops refurbished directly from their site are: Apple, Dell, Toshiba, Sony, HP, and Lenovo.

It's best that you stick with these manufacturer's when purchasing refurbed laptops. Make sure you check with each company as they can sometimes change their warranty. Most of the sites listed above cover their refurbished laptops with the same warranty that they cover their new units. But, once again, it would be in your best interest to check. Ways to Extend Your Laptop's Battery Life

Though great gadgets, laptops quickly lose their charm when you've to continuously search for a power point to top up its battery. How can you extend your battery for a still longer time? We may suggest you 10 simple ways to do so.

a) Defragment your hard drive:

You should regularly defragment your hard drive, because a fast hard drive will exert less demand on your laptop hard drive. However you should make it a point to defrag it on regular power and not while it is on battery. Fragmentation is better handled on Mac operating systems so this may not be too applicable on Apple systems.

b) Make it a point to dim your laptop screen:

Most of the laptops have an inbuilt ability to dim the laptop screen. Many of the latest ones have software's and hardware combos to modify CPU/ cooling. You can chop them down to the lowest possible level which you can manage to save on battery power.

c) Remove the external devices on laptop:

The USB and WiFi have a drain on your laptop battery so you should remove them or shut them when they are not in use. You should also avoid charging devices like iPod via laptop when it is operating on battery to avoid battery discharge.

D) Try adding RAM:

This will enable you to do more of processing with your laptop memory which is fast than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory
Usage results in hard drive use on which it is created and is less power efficient way.

E) Always keep the battery contacts clean:

Make it a point to clean battery's contacts which are of metal every couple of months with a cloth moist with some alcohol. This will make transfer of power from battery quite efficient.

F) Maintain your laptop battery:

You should not leave the charged battery dormant without usage for a long time. Make it a point to use the battery at least once in a week. Also take care so as not to discharge the Li-On battery completely.

G) Keep laptop on hibernation:

Though standby mode saves you some power but it is not that much which hibernate function saves. Hibernating a laptop will in reality save your laptop state as it is and it shuts down completely.

H) Tune up your power options:

You should go to the "power options" in your control panel and set the options so that power use is set to "max battery" for maximum power savings.

I) Avoid Multitasking:

Make it a point to do only one thing when on battery. Instead of say, working on PowerPoint, enabling your mail client to run silently in background and listening to MP3s will only drain your battery fast. Try to concentrate on just one thing.

J) Prevent the Memory Effect -

If the laptop you are using is too old, you may want to prevent the memory effect- that is you keep the laptop battery healthy by first fully charging it and then discharging the same once every month.

Li-Ion batteries which are now a days most laptops have do not suffer from such an effect.
